رأى مفتي عام المملكة سابقاً الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن عبدالله بن باز، رحمه الله، أن من القضاء واجب، على من أفطر رمضان متعمداً، وأن عليه التوبة عن تفريطه.
وعدّ رحمه الله حديث: (من أفطر يومًا من رمضان بغير عذر لم يقض عنه صيام الدهر وإن صامه) ضعيفاً مضطرباً عند أهل العلم، ولا يصح. لافتاً إلى أنه إن كان الإفطار بغير الجماع، فليس عليه كفارة، بل عليه القضاء فقط.
The former Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Baz, may God have mercy on him, believed that it is obligatory for anyone who deliberately breaks their fast during Ramadan to repent for their negligence.
He considered the hadith: (Whoever breaks their fast for a day in Ramadan without an excuse will not make up for it by fasting for a lifetime, even if they fast it) to be weak and inconsistent according to scholars, and it is not authentic. He pointed out that if the breaking of the fast is not due to sexual intercourse, then there is no expiation required, only making up the fast.
