The Russian presidency welcomed the U.S. decision to suspend the delivery of certain weapons to Ukraine, affirming that reducing military support for Kyiv brings the end of the conflict closer. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today (Wednesday): "The less the quantity of weapons delivered to Ukraine, the closer the end of the war becomes."

For its part, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry warned that any delay or postponement in the delivery of weapons from Washington encourages Russia to continue its attacks.

In a statement following the summoning of the U.S. chargé d'affaires after Washington's decision to suspend supplying Kyiv with some of this equipment, the Ukrainian side emphasized that any delay or postponement in supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities would only encourage the aggressor to continue the war and intimidation, instead of seeking peace.

A Ukrainian military source reported that facing Russia would be more difficult in the absence of American weapons. He said: "We currently rely heavily on American weapons, and while Europe is doing what it can, it will be difficult for us to confront without American ammunition."

Kyiv announced that it is seeking clear information from Washington regarding the White House's announcement to suspend some arms shipments to Ukraine. Presidential advisor Dmytro Litvin said, "We are working to clarify the matter. I believe everything will become clear in the coming days."

The White House announced that the United States will suspend the sending of certain arms shipments to Ukraine that the previous administration had promised Kyiv to confront the Russian army.

The halt in the delivery of ammunition and other military assistance, including air defense systems, is expected to strike a blow to Ukraine at a time when it is facing Russian missile and drone attacks that are among the largest during the ongoing war for more than three years.
