The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved a record growth in spending by international visitors during the first quarter of 2025, estimated at 9.7% compared to the same period in 2024. The total spending by international visitors is estimated at around 49.4 billion riyals, resulting in a surplus in the travel item of the balance of payments estimated at about 26.8 billion riyals, with a growth rate of approximately 11.7% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the travel item data in the balance of payments for May.

The Ministry of Tourism clarified that the significant growth in the surplus of the travel item within the balance of payments during the first quarter of the current year 2025 is a result of the efforts made by the ministry and other components of the Saudi tourism system to enhance the tourism sector and its contribution to the growth of the national economy. It also confirms the development witnessed by the tourism sector in the Kingdom.

This growth underscores the effectiveness of the efforts made by the tourism system to elevate the sector to global leadership by applying best practices in tourism development, improving tourism services and products, in addition to ongoing collaboration with all government entities to support the development of the tourism sector in the Kingdom and achieve the targets of Vision 2030.
