«البلديات»: منع البقالات من بيع التبغ والخضراوات والفواكه

The new regulations for grocery stores, supply stores, and hypermarkets have prohibited the sale of vegetables, fruits, dates, meats, and tobacco products (regular cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and shisha) inside kiosks and mini-markets. The sale of these products is restricted to supply stores (supermarkets) with the condition that they obtain a license to sell meat, while all products are allowed to be sold in hypermarkets. As for charging cables and prepaid charge cards, the amendments permit their sale in grocery stores, supply stores, and hypermarkets.

According to the decision by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Majid Al-Hoqail, the minimum area for operating a grocery store is 24 square meters, while the minimum for supply stores is 100 square meters, and for hypermarkets, it is 500 square meters.

The decision will take effect immediately, while existing establishments will be granted a corrective period not exceeding 6 months from now.
