أكدت عضوة المجلس التنفيذي للبنك المركزي الأوروبي إيزابيل شنابل أن الوقت مناسب الآن لتعزيز الدور العالمي لليورو مع توجه المستثمرين نحو أوروبا.
وقالت في حديثها إلى حلقة نقاشية في مؤتمر دوبروفنيك الاقتصادي الحادي والثلاثين أمس الأول (السبت): «هناك فرصة سانحة لتعزيز الدور الدولي لليورو».
وفي وقت سابق في المؤتمر نفسه، أشارت عضوة المجلس إلى وجود مؤشرات على تركيز المستثمرين على القارة لتنويع محافظهم الاستثمارية، واصفةً ذلك بـ«تأثير إيجابي على الثقة».
وأشارت شنابل إلى محادثات مع جهات فاعلة في السوق المالية تُظهر أن المستثمرين أصبحوا أكثر اهتماماً بتنويع استثماراتهم و«التوجه قليلاً نحو أوروبا، وهذا خبر سارّ أيضاً».
وفي نهاية مايو، صرّحت رئيسة البنك المركزي الأوروبي كريستين لاغارد بأن سياسات ترمب المتقلبة تُتيح «فرصة مثالية» لتعزيز دور اليورو، والسماح لمنطقة العملة الموحدة بالتمتع بمزيد من الامتيازات التي كانت حكراً حتى الآن على الدولار الأمريكي، وأضافت أن هذه التغييرات «تخلق فرصة للحظة اليورو العالمية، ينبغي على السياسيين اغتنامها».

Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, Isabel Schnabel, confirmed that the time is right to enhance the global role of the euro as investors turn their attention towards Europe.
In her remarks at a panel discussion during the 31st Dubrovnik Economic Conference the day before yesterday (Saturday), she said, "There is a timely opportunity to strengthen the international role of the euro."
Earlier in the same conference, the board member pointed out that there are signs of investors focusing on the continent to diversify their investment portfolios, describing this as "a positive impact on confidence."
Schnabel noted discussions with financial market players showing that investors have become more interested in diversifying their investments and "leaning a bit towards Europe, which is also good news."
At the end of May, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde stated that Trump's volatile policies provide a "perfect opportunity" to enhance the role of the euro and allow the eurozone to enjoy more privileges that have so far been exclusive to the US dollar, adding that these changes "create an opportunity for the global moment of the euro, which politicians should seize."
