في خطوة جديدة، أعلن مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي إطلاق قسم جديد باسم CAIRO’S XR، في دورته السادسة والأربعين، المقرر إقامتها ما بين 12 إلى 21 نوفمبر 2025، كأول قسم مخصص لتكنولوجيا الوسائط الجديدة في تاريخ المهرجان، بهدف تقديم طريقة جديدة ومختلفة لسرد القصص السينمائية تتيح تجربة أكثر تفاعلًا ومشاركة للجمهور في المنطقة.
يُعد CAIRO’S XR، فرصة للفنانين والمبدعين والمطورين التقنيين لعرض أعمال تستخدم تقنيات حديثة تتخطى طرق العرض التقليدية على الشاشات، حيث يعتمد البرنامج على التكنولوجيا الحديثة التي تخلق تجارب سينمائية يستطيع المشاهد من خلالها أن يشعر ويشارك ويتفاعل مع القصة بأكثر من طريقة.
يشمل القسم تجارب مثل «العوالم الافتراضية الواسعة، الواقع المعزز، قصص تدار بالذكاء الاصطناعي»، وأعمال فنية تفاعلية تتيح للجمهور أن يكون جزءًا من القصة بدلًا من أن يكتفي بمشاهدتها فقط.
كما يعتمد البرنامج على فكرة أن التكنولوجيا ليست هدفًا بحد ذاتها، بل أداة تساعد على جعل القصة أكثر عمقًا وتأثيرًا على المشاعر والفكر والمكان، سواء كان ذلك عن طريق التجول داخل عالم افتراضي، أو التفاعل مع شخصية تُدار بالذكاء الاصطناعي، أو الانغماس في تركيب قصصي يمكن الاستكشاف فيه، وكل تلك الطرق بهدف توسيع طريقة عرض السينما.
ويستند هذا البرنامج على الجمع بين السينما، التصميم، محركات الألعاب، الذكاء الاصطناعي، وتقنيات الأماكن الافتراضية والتجارب التفاعلية لتشجيع الفنانين على تخطي طرق العرض القديمة وتقديم أفكار جديدة للسينما مع الحفاظ على قيمها الفنية والإنسانية.
ويستقبل البرنامج حالياً طلبات أعمال تستخدم تقنيات الواقع الممتد XR، والتقنيات التفاعلية المرتبطة، مثل تجارب الواقع الافتراضي VR، مشروعات الواقع المعزز AR، والواقع المختلط MR، التركيبات التفاعلية الغامرة وغيرها. يشار إلى أن يكون آخر موعد للتقديم 30 أغسطس 2025، وسيتم عرض الأعمال التي تُختار ضمن فعاليات مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي 2025.
In a new step, the Cairo International Film Festival announced the launch of a new section named CAIRO’S XR, in its 46th edition, scheduled to take place from November 12 to 21, 2025, as the first section dedicated to new media technologies in the festival's history, aimed at providing a new and different way to tell cinematic stories that allows for a more interactive and engaging experience for the audience in the region.
CAIRO’S XR is an opportunity for artists, creators, and technical developers to showcase works that utilize modern technologies that go beyond traditional display methods on screens, as the program relies on modern technology that creates cinematic experiences through which viewers can feel, participate, and interact with the story in multiple ways.
The section includes experiences such as "vast virtual worlds, augmented reality, AI-driven stories," and interactive artworks that allow the audience to be part of the story instead of just watching it.
The program also relies on the idea that technology is not an end in itself, but a tool that helps make the story deeper and more impactful on emotions, thoughts, and place, whether through wandering inside a virtual world, interacting with an AI-driven character, or immersing oneself in a narrative structure that can be explored, all aimed at expanding the way cinema is presented.
This program is based on combining cinema, design, game engines, artificial intelligence, and virtual space technologies and interactive experiences to encourage artists to move beyond old display methods and present new ideas for cinema while maintaining its artistic and human values.
The program is currently accepting submissions for works that utilize extended reality (XR) technologies and related interactive technologies, such as virtual reality (VR) experiences, augmented reality (AR) projects, mixed reality (MR), immersive interactive installations, and more. The deadline for submissions is August 30, 2025, and the selected works will be showcased during the Cairo International Film Festival 2025.
