أكد مصدر بسلطات إنفاذ القانون وفاة الممثل الأمريكي مالكوم جمال وارنر الذي أدى دور ثيو ابن بيل كوسبي في المسلسل التلفزيوني الناجح «ذا كوسبي شو» في حقبة الثمانينات عن 54 عاماً يوم (الإثنين) غرقاً.
وذكرت وسائل إعلام أن وارنر كان في عطلة مع عائلته في كوستاريكا، حيث توفي هناك.
وأكدت إدارة التحقيقات القضائية في كوستاريكا أن مواطناً أمريكياً اسمه الأخير وارنر غرق بعد أن سحبه تيار مائي في البحر.
وقالت الإدارة إن أفراد الإنقاذ التابعين للصليب الأحمر أعلنوا وفاته في موقع الحادث.
ويعد «ذا كوسبي شو» الذي عُرض من 1984 إلى 1992 نقلة نوعية في الدراما التلفزيونية، إذ جسّد حياة عائلة سوداء ناجحة من الطبقة المتوسطة.
وأدى كوسبي في المسلسل دور طبيب، فيما أدى وارنر دور ابنه الوحيد.
وُلد وارنر في 18 أغسطس 1970، ونشأ في جيرسي سيتي بولاية نيوجيرسي مع والدته باميلا التي أصبحت في ما بعد مديرة أعماله بالوكالة.
A source from law enforcement confirmed the death of American actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played the role of Theo, Bill Cosby's son, in the successful television series "The Cosby Show" during the 1980s, at the age of 54 on (Monday) due to drowning.
Media reports stated that Warner was on vacation with his family in Costa Rica, where he died.
The Judicial Investigation Department in Costa Rica confirmed that an American citizen with the last name Warner drowned after being swept away by a current in the sea.
The department stated that rescue personnel from the Red Cross declared him dead at the scene of the incident.
"The Cosby Show," which aired from 1984 to 1992, was a groundbreaking series in television drama, depicting the life of a successful African American middle-class family.
Cosby played the role of a doctor in the series, while Warner played his only son.
Warner was born on August 18, 1970, and grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, with his mother Pamela, who later became his business manager.
