Riyadh - The Saudi campaign on piracy, led by the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, have resulted in the confiscation of more than 3,780 pirated devices, which were sold in local markets.

The authorities, in their continuing sweep to eradicate piracy and pirated broadcasts of regional and global sports events, have carried on a rigorous campaign to root out the evil.

The campaign, launched weeks before the start of the World Cup Russia 2018, comes from the keenness of the Saudi government to implement all regulations related to the protection of intellectual property and media broadcasting rights and criminalizing those who infringe on them.

The campaign also comes from the Kingdom's commitment to combat all forms of piracy.

Saudi Arabia had launched the campaign more than 40 days before the start of the World Cup in Russia, while continuing intensive rounds of monitoring such that any irregularities found in outlets selling pirated transmission devices, are rectified.

Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries that declared war on piracy devices that have invaded the Middle East markets.
