New York - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's permanent delegation to the United Nations has affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's keenness to promote and protect human rights based on the principles of the Islamic Sharia.

Pointing to the enactment of laws and regulations related to human rights, modernization of the judiciary and criminal justice system, the independence of the public prosecution, the establishment of Saudi lawyers Association and the Family Affairs Council, and issuance of the system of associations and civil institutions as the Criminal Procedure System is currently under reviewing along with setting of a new draft penal system to combat abuse of power.
