أثار تنازل الدكتور حسن النعمي للدكتور سعيد السريحي برئاسة جمعية الأدب ردود أفعال إيجابية من رواد ومرتادي مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، مثمنين للدكتور النعمي تساميه وإيثاره النادر. وأوضح الدكتور النعمي، لـ«عكاظ»، أنه عقب فرز الأصوات في انتخابات مجلس الجمعية تساوت أصواته الانتخابية مع أصوات الدكتور سعيد السريحي، وقرر رئيس لجنة الانتخابات إعادة الانتخابات حسب اللوائح الانتخابية، أو أن يتنازل أحد المتساويين في الأصوات للآخر المتساوي معه في عدد الأصوات، فطلب الكلمة وأعلن تنازله للدكتور ليصبح رئيس جمعية الأدب في هذه الدورة، والنعمي نائباً لرئيس الجمعية.

المكانة الأدبية
وعدّ من أسباب التنازل استحقاق الدكتور سعيد لرئاسة الجمعية؛ عطفاً على مكانته الأدبية وما قدمه من عطاء أسهم في نهضة الأدب العربي، ولكون الأبلغ عنده العمل والإنتاج وليس الشكل الإداري للمناصب والمسميات.
وقال النعمي: المفارقة كانت في ردود الفعل الكبيرة التي تشيد بموقفي مع استغراب ودهشة البعض، إذ ترسخ في الأذهان أن المثقف أناني ولا يرضى إلا بالمنافسة والمزاحمة المريرة، وأنا راضٍ بأن الله وفقني لهذه اللحظة التي أعتز بها، ولعلها عندي أبلغ أثراً من كل صنيع ثقافي قدمته، كونها تؤكد حاجتنا لقيمة العمل نفسه على حساب الأولويات الشخصية.
العين لا تعلو على الحاجب
وأضاف: قلتُ ببساطة القول الذي يحمل معنى كبيراً إن «العين لا تعلو على الحاجب»، في إشارة إلى ريادة الصديق العزيز سعيد السريحي ونضاله من أجل التنوير الثقافي في المملكة وتحمله كلفة ذلك وحيداً دون غيره. وبارك النعمي للسريحي، معبّراً عن ثقته بأنه سيقدم للجمعية مع المجلس المنتخب أقصى ما لديهم من جهد وعطاء يكون له أثره الإيجابي في نهضة جمعية الأدب المهنية، وما ينتج عنها من تنظيم لحركة الأدب في المملكة.

فيما أكد رئيس جمعية الأدب الدكتور سعيد السريحي أنه لم يندهش من موقف الدكتور حسن النعمي، كونه مذ عرفه؛ مثقفاً نبيلاً، ينطلق من قيمته الثقافية وليس من موقعه في المؤسسات؛ وأضاف السريحي لـ«عكاظ»: الدكتور حسن يتكئ على ما هو أكثر ثراءً؛ من رئاسة أو عضوية، إذ إنه يستند على مكانته المعرفية والأدبية وحضوره في قلوب محبيه، وعدّ موقفه تأكيداً للمعرفة به؛ نبيلاً كريماً؛ خصوصاً عندما قال «العين لا تعلو على الحاجب»، فقال السريحي مُعقّباً: «والله أنك أنت العين وأنت الحاجب».

Al-Naimi said: The irony was in the strong reactions praising my position, while some expressed surprise and astonishment, as it has been ingrained in people's minds that intellectuals are selfish and only satisfied with fierce competition and rivalry. I am content that God has granted me this moment, which I cherish, and perhaps it has a greater impact on me than any cultural achievement I have presented, as it confirms our need for the value of work itself at the expense of personal priorities.

He added: I simply stated a saying that carries a significant meaning: "The eye does not rise above the eyebrow," referring to the leadership of my dear friend Saeed Al-Surayhi and his struggle for cultural enlightenment in the Kingdom, bearing the cost of that alone. Al-Naimi congratulated Al-Surayhi, expressing his confidence that he will provide the association with the utmost effort and contributions that will have a positive impact on the professional revival of the Literary Association and the organization of literary movement in the Kingdom.
