The Saudi General Directorate of Passports is looking to recruit women for the first time to work in airports and land border-crossing points in the Kingdom, and carry a military rank.

According to the General Directorate of Passports’ website, applicants must be born and raised in Saudi Arabia and be between 25 and 35 years old. The application process started on Sunday and ends on Thursday.

All candidates must be medically qualified for military service and must commit to the specified shifts in any region or province which they are assigned to.

Among other conditions, the General Directorate of Passports said that all applicants “must be holders of a high-school diploma or equivalent, and must agree to be interviewed according to the specified conditions”.

The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to diversify the economy beyond oil, mandates increasing the percentage of Saudi women in the workforce by 2030.
