The Yemeni Ministry of Interior confirmed that it has detained an Iranian smuggling ship in Yemeni territorial waters off the coast of Socotra Island.

Interior Ministry Undersecretary Ahmad Ali Masood said in a report presented to the Yemeni cabinet at its regular meeting yesterday that the investigation is underway on details of the ship's cargo and source of its supply, according to official Yemeni news agency.

Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr said local fishermen on the island of Abd Al-Kuri, near the island of Socotra, seized an Iranian ship, indicating that the ship was carrying 19 Iranian sailors and they were seized at the coast of Hadibu, the island center in the Indian Ocean.
