Muslim World League (MWL) is set to hold an international conference on cultural communication among the United States of America and the Islamic World, in New York City, on Saturday, in the presence of representatives of Islamic institutions from various countries and their American counterparts, as well as scientific, intellectual and political participants from around the world.
The two-day conference will discuss a number of themes including: the cultural contributions from the United States and the Islamic world, Reality and Aspirations, Islamic contribution to the promotion of world peace and Muslims in the United States of America: Integration and Citizenship, and the interrelationship between the United States of America and the Islamic world, Cultural and Humanistic Commons, and mutual exchange between the United States of America and the Islamic world, and other issues.
Distinguished group of academics and researchers from around the world will participate in the conference and there will be mutual dialogue sessions between a number of Muslim and American students.
The Secretary General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa explained that the Association aims at recalling civilization of Islam and its pioneering historical experience in opening up to other civilizations, which emphasizes the concepts of cultural exchange, inculcating the view of Islam based on righteousness, justice, charity, good dealing and good exchange, as well as reviewing evidence of history on the Islamic highness to communicate with the peoples of the world, especially as the gathering will address USA, where history of cultural relationship with the Islamic world and its distinct models of high trust, honest and positive interaction.
Religious and intellectual extremism is an abnormal and isolated context, which the Islamic world fought before it fought others and harmed it before and more than others, he stated.
It has little foothold in the Muslim world, according to the latest estimates, he added that its popularity rate is only one to two hundred thousand, he claimed and that the impact of intellectual and military warfare terrorism and extremism are shrinking, in a clear and tangible way.
The Secretary General of the Islamic World League said that extremism will bet on anything in order to regain its strength and attract new elements such as betting on the provocations of counter-extremism or Islamophobia.
He pointed out that extremism is a general and comprehensive concept not only on extremism falsely attributed to Islam, as even current developments attest to this on several levels, whether in the religious, intellectual, political or racial aspects.
The Islamic world, he said, especially in the country that harbors its sanctities, patronage of its issues, sponsor and protectorate, Saudi Arabia, is present and strong in the global peace initiatives and promotion of it, at all levels and with a strong and effective determination to combat extremism and terrorism, intellectually and militarily until it became the Islamic platform certified by the US, pointing to the attendance of US President Donald Trump and a number of American politicians, intellectuals and media outlets the opening of the World Center for the fight against Extremist Ideology (I'tidal) who praised it, along Islamic countries which took part in the extraordinary and historic summit between the two sides, gathered under the determination to bring us together in Shaban/ May, praising the speech of US President which focused on the detailed facts and which outlined the difference between moderate Muslims and extremists among them, who those affiliated to them.
