Minister of Culture and Information Awwad Al-Awwad on Monday made an inspection tour of the facilities and elaborate arrangements of the ministry and its media organs to cover the annual pilgrimage of Haj at the Holy Sites.

Speaking to reporters during the tour, Al-Awwad reiterated the keenness of the ministry and its media organizations to facilitate all the arrangements for the print and electronic media from within the Kingdom and abroad to cover the pilgrimage in the best possible manner.


“The preparations are very good,” he said, adding that his visit aimed at inspecting closely the preparations and the readiness of the media centers to receive the guests of the ministry.

Al-Awwad said the ministry is keen to host all channels wishing to transmit this great event through making available of the necessary infrastructure facilities for satellite channels, international news agencies and various other media outlets, in addition to hosting prominent media personalities and making available of the means of modern technology.

Replying to a question about the role of the newly created International Center of Communication under the ministry, Al-Awwad said that the center aims to have communications with the international media and press organizations in foreign languages such as English, French and German and disseminate the real message of Saudi Arabia, a country of peace, charity and love, to the outside world.

He said that more than 70 channels sought permission to carry out live transmission of Haj, and this is a 20 percent increase compared to last year.

As part of the inspection tour, Al-Awwad visited the ministry’s media centers in Mina and Arafat, offices of the Saudi Press Agency and Saudi Radio and Television studios and towers in Mina and Arafat.
